DC Power Jack for accepting external power adapter:

Max. number of repeaters in Daisy-Chain:

Up to 4 repeaters Daisy-Chain when connecting to PC via a USB hub.
Up to 5 repeaters Daisy-Chain when connecting directly to PC onboard USB.
External power supply for repeater:

When connecting a device as 500mA or higher without its own power supply (such as 2.5″ HDD):
4 or less repeaters in Daisy-Chain:
One external power supply should be added to the last repeater.
5 repeaters in Daisy-Chain:
Two external power suppies should be added to the last two repeaters (the 4th & 5th repeaters).
Power added to the 4th repeater because power becomes not enough in the 4th repeater.
Power added to the 5th repeater in order to ensure the 5th repeater having enough power delivering to the 4th repeater.

When connecting a device less than 500mA (such as pen drive, keyboard, mouse) or a device as 500mA or higher with its own power supply (such as a powered 3.5″ HDD):
4 or less repeaters in Daisy-Chain:
The external power supply for repeater is not needed.
5 repeaters in Daisy-Chain:
One external power supply should be added to the 4th repeater (NOT the 5th) because power becomes not enough in the 4th repeater.
